Women’s Day Inspiration: Daisy Wu

Women’s Day Interview with Daisy Wu, owner of La Maison Valmont Vancouver
– Daisy’s ability to make women feel beautiful, not just on the outside, but inside too, has allowed her to be a force in the industry for over 35 years. Her knowledge and leadership at La Maison Valmont Vancouver allow her to give more personalized consultations to deal with any skin situation and to continue strengthening her relationships.

International Women’s Day was created in the early 1900s as a way to celebrate the accomplishments of women. Today we are honoured to share with you women who inspire us in the Arts, Media, and Community. Because it’s not just the future that is female, it’s right here, in the present.

What inspired you to work in the beauty industry?
My inspiration began with my own personal interest in beauty.  With that, I wanted to enter the industry to assist and motivate other women to achieve and maintain the beauty they want.

How do you define beauty?
I would define beauty as the quality an individual possesses with a combination of their inner character and their outer appearance.  Beauty would be something that is reflected from within and presented on the outside.

In your opinion, how does La Maison Valmont empower women?
La Maison Valmont empowers women by being able to provide women with a positive outlook on a way to achieve their beauty and maintain it.  With our expertise and product efficacy, we are able to achieve results women want and are able to provide them with a detailed-oriented relationship that they feel confident and comfortable in.

What is the biggest challenge facing women in the beauty industry? How do you overcome them?
The biggest challenge facing women in the beauty industry is that they always want to attain something better.  Women’s wants are never-ending and their minds always change, and for us, as providers in the beauty industry, we always have to chase the trend and provide them with the newest products and technology.  We overcome these challenges by educating ourselves with the changes in trends and the industry, and also in client preferences and wants.

How do you create a supportive environment for yourself and your team?
We have a weekly meeting with our team where we share with them new experiences and challenges we face throughout the week.  We treat our team just as we would our family, and make sure they are comfortable and confident while in the workplace.

Who has been the greatest influence/mentor in your life?
My greatest influence would be when I immigrated here from Hong Kong in 1995.  I had already been in the beauty industry in Hong Kong prior to moving to Vancouver, and I wanted to continue that here so I can continue to provide service to women and help them achieve the beauty they want.  I enjoy building relationships with my clients and supporting them as they achieve the beauty results they want.  It is because of my passion for beauty, that I have been able to stay in this industry for 35 years to continue to help and guide women to achieve the beauty they desire.

What accomplishment(s) are your most proud of?
The accomplishments I am most proud of is the platform I have built for myself in the beauty industry and the relationships I have built. I am proud to have maintained long-lasting relationships with my clients, friends and vendors in the industry and their support has been the most meaningful and rewarding.

What skincare product do you swear by?
The Prime Renewing Pack by Valmont is the skincare product I swear by.  It is my absolute go-to for any occasion!

Carol Liu
Carol’s look may be minimalist, and her favourite clothing lines known for simplicity, but she works her role as Marketing Coordinator to the maximum and with her super-power energy. Organized and button-down, Carol rolls up those chic sleeves and gets it done. Throw in a journalism background to keep it real, and a great quick smile to deliver the spin. Which reminds us, she’s fast too. Must be all that running.
