Perfectly Imperfect

As I reflect on a year soon ending, I think back to the amazing life adventures it held – my most celebrated being the purchase of my first home. Let’s face it, in Vancouver, it’s a BIG deal. As I set out to explore a laundry list of resolutions, I am encouraged with a renewed sense of hope that comes with a brand new year. In 2018, I’ll start with transforming a dated living room!

This year’s inspiration comes from Wabi Sabi, embracing the beauty in imperfection. While this mantra refers to many aspects of life, starting with a design approach at home seemed like the obvious first step. Rooted in Japanese culture, this simple, modest design concept is anticipated to be the #1 home design trend of 2018.

Start by celebrating the beauty in nature with reclaimed wood furniture and accent pieces. Crate & Barrel is a solid go-to for this jaw dropping coffee table and wall piece. Second, bring a touch of the outdoors inside. Saje Natural Wellness inspires the senses with the plant-based power of essential oils with their eye-catching diffusers. Finally, and most importantly, remove the clutter from your home and focus on key pieces. This will relax the mind turning your home into a peaceful sanctuary. I feel more relaxed already!

I look forward to seeing this design concept come to life. Up next, the bedroom!
