Let’s Get the Party Started
With less than a month away till December 25th, we wanted to share a few of our TOP “Crowd Pleasers” for your home holiday entertaining. Don’t forget to create a holiday playlist for your guests. This is a great way to set the tone for the evening.
Our top 5 picks include Happy Christmas by Maroon Five, White Christmas – Live by Lady Gaga, Believe by Josh Groban, and Baby It’s Cold Outside by Idina Menzel and Michael Bublé.
Greet guests with a cocktail (or mocktail). It can be as simple as wine or champagne or as chic as a Cape May Mule (in a copper mug). Just make sure all your guests have a drink in their hand. Keep the décor simple – candles, fresh greenery, and mini lights can be your best friend.
Now onto the food! We want to share a few of our favourite holiday recipes:
BOOZY MANDARIN OLIVES (Safeway)
- 1 cup (250 mL) mandarin or orange-flavoured vodka
- 1 sprig rosemary
- 1 jar (375 mL) Compliments Stuffed Manzanilla Olives, drained
- 1 tsp (5 mL) olive oil
- Zest ½ an orange
Pour vodka into a small saucepan. Add rosemary. Set over low-medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, or until heated through and lightly steaming. Remove saucepan from heat. Add olives and gently stir. Marinate 1 hr. Transfer olives, rosemary and about half the vodka into a serving dish (use remaining in martinis); drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with orange zest to serve.
BAKED BRIE WITH PECAN ROLLS (Purdys Chocolatier)
- Brie cheese wheel
- 2 Pecan Rolls
Preheat oven to 300°F. Remove brie from packaging and place into a brie baker.
Tip: If you don’t have a brie baker, place brie on a cookie sheet and roll aluminum foil around the edges of the wheel to keep the cheese inside. Cut Pecan Rolls into 1/4 inch slices.
Press Pecan Roll slices on top of brie. Bake for 15 minutes.
HOLIDAY VEGGIE PLATTER (Kin’s Market)
- 1 head broccoli
- Yellow Pepper
- 1 head Cauliflower
- 1 package Cherry Tomatoes
- 1 handful of pretzels
- Dips are optional
