It’s Singles’ Day
Singles’ Day originated at the Nanjing University in 1993. The date of November 11th (11/11) was chosen by the young university students because the number “1” represents an individual who is single. It’s well known in Chinese culture for singles to celebrate and socialize on this day. Ironically, Singles’ Day has also become a popular wedding date.
Nowadays, Singles’ Day has transformed into the biggest shopping festival in China. In fact, it is bigger than Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Boxing Day are in North America. Since China’s e-commerce giant, Alilbaba, adopted the holiday in 2009, they have turned it into a multibillion-dollar shopping event, slashing prices across all their platforms. In 2017, Alibaba set a world record for over US$25.4 billion in sales. Its mobile wallet app, Alipay, processed 256,000 payment transactions per second.
Whether you are single or not, you deserve a gift, and who’s better than you to know the perfect present for yourself?
Crainy Ge We can’t imagine anyone who would know better how to deliver exemplary service to our guests than our own super-shopper, Crainy. Or have the style to offer it up with a more stunning smile, (as those who’ve had the pleasure of meeting her can attest). It turns out Crainy wasn’t so far off envisioning herself as an Ambassador growing up – we certainly consider her ours! When she’s not leading the charge in offering Oakridge guests customer service that achieves next level, chances are you’ll find Crainy treating herself to a good retail sesh. Aka research!
