Dress for Success Vancouver's Inaugural Power Walk was a rainy yet successful walk in the park on Saturday May 7th.
Over 130 walkers, with a few canine friends, walked the 5 kilometers to raise around $15,000 to support the organizations Lower Mainland programs. The event started with a jam-packed yoga class in Oakridge's West Galleria, plus words of encouragement from four-time Paralympian Elisabeth Walker-Young, and proceeded with a speedy walk around scenic Queen Elizabeth Park and Oakridge area. All the walkers, runners and supporters were enthusiastic and energetic despite the chilly weather.
After the early morning walk, participants and volunteers enjoyed a fun after-party back at the centre complete with DJ, sponsor booths, give-aways, and snacks. Next year promises to be another inspiring event!
